Entrepreneurs

YTKO has already helped over 30,000 entrepreneurs to get into enterprise. Our clients come to us from different backgrounds, with different levels of experience, and all facing different challenges.

Overall, 51% of our clients have been women, reinforcing YTKO’s position at the forefront of a drive to support women in business.

As many as 20% of our entrepreneurs are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME).  This is a significant achievement given that a substantial proportion of our beneficiaries are from the South West of England, where over 90% of the population are White British (Census, 2011).

Our Outset programme has been highly successful in engaging with individuals who are out of work (either unemployed or economically inactive) prior to engagement with the programme (47% of clients) and the long-term unemployed (19%).  As many as 44% were in receipt of benefit payments.

Many of our clients are faced with a range of personal barriers based on their circumstances with 27% only having entry-level qualifications, 11% had English as a second language and 10% were single parents.

Through our training and mentoring, we have been able to help our clients build their resilience and self-esteem, their sense of belonging and to increase their transferable skills.  Many have been able to take control of their lives as a result, and can enjoy the benefit of having the freedom to pursue goals and ambitions in absence of the constraints that may be placed on individuals within paid employment.
