YTKO provides innovative, award-winning business and finance support for start-ups and for growth-ambitious SMEs in both the public and private sector. We have a long and distinguished track record of delivering tangible bottom-line results for our clients and are proud of our heritage of absolute equality and diversity in our business base.
Due to a significant increase in grant funds under management, we are now looking to expand our team with an experienced Growth Coach with strong financial expertise.
Our experienced business growth coaching/consulting teams in our publicly funded portfolio hold a range of responsibilities. These may start with the project mobilisation phase with active client outreach, and the building of trusted relationships and referral partnerships across the patch with business and sector networks, and private, public and academic organisations of all kinds. Project inception periods are also heavily focused on promoting the service through a range of parallel outreach, marketing and networking activities.
You’ll be carrying out strategic business reviews and 1:1 discovery sessions to get under the hood of the real business challenges, agreeing support priorities and action plans, so will be familiar with the 4 Steps Business Change Cycle, Business Model Canvas, and similar approaches to learning development and business strategy. Growth coaches therefore need to be familiar with the challenges of growth at all stages of the business journey, and how they can be overcome, connecting clients to additional sources of expertise, both internally and externally, as/if needed.
In particular, you’ll be able to support clients to improve any aspects of the finance/accounting function, including cashflow and profit forecasts, cost reduction, budgets, and management accounts, and facilitating introductions to appropriate sources of finance when SMEs are investment ready. Experience in supporting growth businesses to prepare for equity finance will be a bonus.
You will have lead responsibility for the management of the Growth Works £2m+ Capex grant programme. Grants from £20,000 – £150,000 on a 50% match basis are available. This involves supporting clients to make a robust case on how a grant will drive their growth, due diligence, assessment of client applications, preparation of documentation for the review panel, and liaison with the Grants Manager for issuing of a Grant Offer letter. You’ll maintain the relationship with the client for the duration of the project, supporting their grant claim process as needed, recording grant-enabled new job creation, and subsequent growth in employment/GVA.
Business growth coaches must not only have strong business, sector and functional expertise to bring to clients, but proven abilities to convey knowledge effectively through a blend of existing training workshops, growth accelerators and peer2peer action learning cohorts (online and face to face), 1:1 business coaching, mentoring, e-learning, and commercial consultancy.
This role is for someone who is a real hands-on self-starter, prepared to do whatever it takes to deliver a successful project and a great impact for clients. You’ll have excellent presentation and communication skills, be an enthusiastic, highly motivated, entrepreneurial team player, confident and articulate, but also have an eye for detail to ensure robust evidencing of our support and impact.
