The Going for Growth: Be a Winner! Conference programme was packed with inspirational workshops, networking and presentations, from contributors including Carlene Keleman, Head of Economic Development at Cornwall Council, Sandra Rothwell, Director of the Convergence Partnership, independent leadership and management coach and facilitator at the University of Exeter, Sue Chapman, and YTKO Group’s own CEO, Bev Hurley.
In a rousing keynote address, Dawn Gibbins shared some of her experiences from 30 years in business. From the kitchen table start-up that became £multi-million international market leader Flowcrete, to Dawn’s latest adventures as a ‘philanthropreneur’ and her holistic, ‘Fun Shui’ approach to doing business. Fun, she said, was vastly underrated, revealing that growing a happy, committed, passionate team is inextricably linked to growing a strong, healthy, sustainable business.
By popular demand, a mix of presentations and workshops led by Enterprising Women founder Bev Hurley included sessions on building the sales pipeline and the challenges of leadership, while a very productive and popular ‘FeedForward’ session presented the opportunity for women to take sound, practical advice on all aspects of their business, encouraging the sharing of ideas, and emphasising with the importance of retaining a positive focus on their aspirations for the future.
Cornwall Enterprising Women’s Growth Programme for 2012 was also launched on the day, when delegates heard from Mary Galbraith of Campervans.com, a former graduate of the Growth Programme, whose business has flourished since taking part.
Cornwall Enterprising Women was launched in 2010, as part of the award-winning Enterprising Women network of more than 8,500 female members nationwide. Created and managed by YTKO Group, Enterprising Women provides comprehensive, not-for-profit business support and specialist information to help women start up and grow their businesses.
