To proof of concept, and then to market
YTKO’s pioneering managed programmes provide technology transfer support and skills development to translate and accelerate innovation to market, and to train researchers in commercialisation and business processes and market needs. We deliver virtual and physical incubation and proof of concept services to institutions, businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to commercialise innovation.
Effective exploitation of research requires three components: high quality IP, market demand, and investment – innovation, markets, and money. A managed virtual incubation programme helps achieve high rates of science commercialisation, job creation and company formation, as well as stimulating cluster development and growth. For example, our Bioscience Yorkshire project added 20% to the local cluster after four years.
Proving the concept is an essential first step after invention. It accelerates and de-risks development and commercialisation of new ideas. Our incubation team ensures market needs are known, analysed, verified and prioritised, to ensure that the new product or business idea will be able to gain swift market acceptance and revenues.
The process also shows if it must be adapted or developed to better suit market needs, or if there are overwhelming barriers to adoption, substantial competition, or an existing simple and cost-effective solution.
The outcome is high quality, verified decision support for planning products, resources, funding and investment. Our in-depth support helps them overcome the early stage funding gap through de-risking the proposition, and creates strong, sustainable businesses proven to meet the needs of their markets.
YTKO also provides full incubation support from it two small city Centre buildings, in Norwich and Peterborough. Far from being ‘managed workspace’, each provides a wealth of expertise, 1:1 practical support, services and facilitated connections that clients can tap into. Clients previously benefiting from the YTKO incubation service have gone on to be highly successful business, including Transversal, BrainJuicer and Bridge Partners.
