Born in Hertford and educated in Norfolk, Lucy studied for a BA (Hons) degree in Music at Huddersfield University. Lucy’s career began in local television as an assistant in the BBC East newsroom and then the PR department of Anglia Television.
Her flare for marketing and event management was developed in her next role at the University of East Anglia where she was responsible for the recruitment of health professionals and the growth of an innovative multi-disciplinary Masters programme, involving marketing, design, event management, student recruitment and networking.
The programme was extremely successful growing from an intake of 20 students in the first year to over 500 by the time Lucy left five years later. Next Lucy was head hunted as a Conference Director to stage the 2004 international conference for the UK wide trade association of Women’s Enterprise Support, PROWESS. This is where she met Bev Hurley, CEO of Norfolk Network – soon after she joined the Network as PR and Communications Executive.
Lucy is a natural communicator with a talent for putting people together – such essential qualities has lead to her role developing substantially over the last five years, to where she now leads the network as the Development Director.
She is responsible for creating and delivering monthly business events, securing high caliber speakers and facilitating networking for a community of nearly 200 of the most innovative and successful knowledge based businesses in Norfolk and beyond. These businesses gather from all sectors – entrepreneurs, academics and scientists. Lucy continues to grow the membership, attract sponsorship and develop strategic partnerships.
Lucy’s strength of relationship building, has greatly contributed to the excellent reputation that the Norfolk Network has developed in its first five years and its respected position has been secured in the region’s business community.
